Face Mask Engagement

There’s an old saying that You do not need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice, which I think relates nicely to the face mask debate. Science says wearing face masks in public will prevent a lot of coronavirus illness and death and many of us take that advice to protect ourselves and other people. Others prefer skydiving without parachutes, leaving the rest of us looking up and hoping we don’t get hit by falling stupid people. But I jest. Lots of public agencies are trying to figure out how to convince people to do the safest and healthiest thing without making it law because, let’s face it, nobody likes being ordered what to do – with the possible exception of Vice President Mike Pence after conferring with Mother.
