Abraham Lincoln is the guy who said, “… you may fool people for a time; you can fool a part of the people all the time; but you can’t fool all the people all the time.” I’m confident that lies have been around since language was invented, but saying things that clearly aren’t true always used to have a negative connotation and usually came with consequences for the manure spreader. But then we learned that truth isn’t true and there are people who have alternative facts. Call me old fashioned, but I don’t think that’s gonna work well for us in the long run. We see evidence that fertilizing falsehoods, obfuscation, spin and BS is becoming more mainstream and even people who never might have considered just making some crap up in the past are now slowly getting sucked into the vortex of dishonesty. I suggest that we all take a look at ourselves and prevent this from happening on our watch. The problems and solutions start here.
