There’s no question that the last half century in the United States has seen a steady, consistent erosion of trust in institutions – particularly government. We’re at the point in this remarkable disconnect that exceptionally smart people who are not typically prone to hyperbole are beginning to question whether or not this democratic experiment is likely to survive.
