Every large institution takes on some level of bureaucracy, which can be incredibly frustrating and infuriating to normal people who have to work with it. Almost every institution tends to adopt its own acronyms and language, in part to simplify internal communication but also, as I’ve seen, as a kind of ego-stroking means to set themselves apart from the rest of the herd of similar organizations. That language often impedes its ability to connect with real people, so I think we need to periodically clean out the word-closet. Let’s send these five to the landfill.
