I think I’ve been surveyed beyond exhaustion for quite some time now. Every major and minor encounter results in a text or email asking for my feedback (to serve me better), and unless I’m either joyfully giddy or mad enough to sue, I tend to ignore it. Don’t get me wrong, I fully appreciate the value of surveys and feedback as one really useful tool, especially when engaging communities, but the truth is that this has become a competitive endeavor.
If you’re the one doing the surveying or polling, you need to keep in mind that you’re competing for people’s limited attention, and your competitors are probably pretty good at it. If you’re interested in some valid suggestions, read on.
