Use Your Words, Just Not These

From the Words Matter desk comes this strong suggestion to eliminate three specific words from your verbal and written vocabulary. Words matter. A lot. That towering elocutionator and forty-fourth U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle made that point so clearly when he said, “One word sums up probably the responsibility of any vice president, and that one word is ‘to be prepared.’” How true that was … and may still be. Language evolves in the most unusual and sometimes entertaining ways. Acquired slang and verbal crutches happen organically as generations come and go, but these three overused words have outlived their usefulness.
