Sorry For Being Sorry

Can’t you apologize too much? Good question. It came from a client recently and it prompted a lengthy conversation starting with what constitutes a good apology. We all agreed that “We are pleased to have reached a settlement of our dispute with Dominion Voting Systems. We acknowledge the Court’s rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false. This settlement reflects FOX’s continued commitment to the highest journalistic standards” was not an example of a good apology. And we concluded that the likelihood of anyone in government or business over-apologizing was too remote to bother even worrying about.
