Eliminate Law Enforcement … Really?

We have a lot of thorny issues to work to resolve in the coming months and years, not the least of which is the movement that suggests police departments should be defunded. Which leads to the question of whether or not people actually want to seriously diminish or truly eliminate the function of public safety. I could be wrong, but I suspect that this isn’t really what a majority of people are after. But to truly understand what this movement means, we’ll ultimately need all viewpoints to talk with each other to figure out what our common priorities and objectives are and not just react to emotional positions. To most people, the values of law enforcement represent safety, security and justice, but to many other people, law enforcement values represent danger, fear, injustice and prejudice. This conversation needs to start with values. Read more
